James Kang

Associate Director

James and his wife, Janet, have been on staff with The Navigators since 1988. They currently serve with NavMissions and have worked in Southeast Asia pioneering summer programs and leading the Philippines summer short-term program. James has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Loyola University in Chicago and master’s degree in historical theology from Dallas Theological Seminary.

Current Ministry: In addition to leading summer programs overseas, James serves with the NavCity leadership team in Chicago and has ministered with ex-offenders in Chicago for more than 10 years. He is also with Strategic partnership development team with NavMissions.

Family Facts: James and Janet have been married 26 years and they have one son.

His first car: “My first car was a used ‘71 Toyota Corolla. After a year the engine blew.” James fared better than his sister, though. Her first car was Ford Pinto and, true to form, it caught fire when she was rear-ended. Thankfully, she wasn’t hurt.
